What Helping Hands is, and isn’t

Helping Hands is a noticeboard. We bring together information about government schemes, charities and community initiatives so that people can find help, and people who want to help can find each other. We are an intermediary only. We do not provide the services, programmes or assistance listed here, and we are not a party to anything you arrange with a listing’s organiser.

Check before you commit

Listings are posted by organisations and individuals. Community listings are checked and ones that break our rules are removed, but we cannot guarantee that any listing is accurate, current, safe or suitable for you. Before you share personal details, send money, sign up or turn up in person:

  • Confirm the details directly with the organiser, and with the agency for any government scheme.
  • Check that a charity or organisation is genuine, for example on the Charity Portal or with the agency concerned.
  • Never pay a fee to receive help, and be careful with requests for bank details, NRIC numbers or OTPs.
  • Meet new people in public places, and tell someone you trust where you’re going.

Eligibility rules, amounts and deadlines for government schemes change. The official agency’s information is always the final word.

Limits of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Helping Hands is not liable for loss or harm arising from your use of the site or from any dealings with a listing’s organiser. If you see something that looks wrong or unsafe, use the Report button on the listing.
