HDB Public Rental Scheme

Anyone who asks for your OTP or Singpass password, or asks you to pay before you can get government support, is a scammer.

The Public Rental Scheme lets Singapore Citizen households and eligible singles rent a 1- or 2-room flat directly from HDB at deeply subsidised rents — from about $26 to $275 a month depending on household income tier and whether they are a first- or second-timer applicant — when they have no family support and no other way to house themselves. HDB assesses each application holistically based on household income, size, housing budget and circumstances rather than a fixed cut-off; the published rent table's highest listed income band is $1,500/month, though applicants above this may still be assessed case by case. Applicants and everyone in the household must not own or have any interest in local or overseas property, must not already be an HDB flat owner, essential occupier, or tenant under another HDB rental scheme, and must not be able to afford other housing options (including support from family). Families with children under 21 are placed under the ComLink+ Rental Scheme, which layers on additional MSF-coordinated support toward stability and self-reliance; unmarried, divorced, widowed, orphaned or separated singles aged 35 and above (or 21 and above if widowed/orphaned) may apply to rent jointly under the Joint Singles Scheme.
