MediFund

MediFund is a government endowment fund whose investment income helps subsidised Singapore Citizen patients who still cannot afford their share of a medical bill after government subsidies, insurance payouts and MediSave have been used. Medical social workers at the treating institution assess each case holistically — looking at the patient's and family's finances, health and social circumstances alongside the bill size — so there's no fixed payout amount. Two carve-outs target specific groups: MediFund Silver for needy seniors and MediFund Junior for children. It applies only at MediFund-approved institutions and does not extend to Permanent Residents.
