A group of Redhill and Tiong Bahru residents who started out sharing leftover cooking with a few elderly residents in 2022 and now run three things: an open pantry in the void deck of Blk 79, a Tuesday lunch for seniors at the Redhill community club, and a festive hamper drive twice a year. Everything is volunteer-run and free. We are about 35 regular volunteers, from teenagers to retirees, and we always halal-certify the ingredients we buy. We do not take cash donations; we ask for food or time, so every dollar given is a dollar of food on someone's table.

Residents of Khatib and Yishun who like getting their hands dirty. We look after a community garden on a former carpark, run a monthly estate clean-up with composting workshops, and keep a free tool and book library in a converted storeroom. Most members are retirees who garden in the morning, joined by working adults and families at weekends. Newcomers never need experience: we lend gloves and boots, someone will show you what to do, and there is always tea at the end. Surplus vegetables go to residents of the surrounding blocks, free, whoever turns up first.

A group of working professionals and retirees in Kallang, Bendemeer and Geylang who share what they know for free. We run Digital Buddies, where volunteers sit one-to-one with seniors to set up phones, banking apps and video calls; Job Ready Saturdays, with CV clinics and mock interviews for jobseekers of any age; and a fortnightly Language Cafe where people practise English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil over coffee. We meet in the common room at a Bendemeer rental block and the community club library. Nobody pays and nobody is tested; you simply turn up.

Founded by three former family caregivers who met in a hospital waiting room, Woodlands Care Circle supports people looking after a parent, spouse or child at home in Woodlands and Marsiling. We run respite mornings so caregivers can rest for a few hours, a friendly listening service with volunteers trained in basic emotional first aid, and a small shelf of books and leaflets on dementia, stroke recovery and caring for a child with special needs. We are not a clinic and do not give medical advice, but we know who to call and will go with you to the first appointment if you are anxious.

Student group, Greenridge Secondary School
The Interact Club of Greenridge Secondary School in Tampines, advised by Mr Teo. Around 60 students aged 13 to 16 run weekly service projects in the estate around the school: free maths and English help for primary school children, a monthly Repair Kopitiam where students learn to fix small appliances alongside retired technicians, and a Pass It On programme that collects school uniforms, shoes and laptops for families who need them. Every project is supervised by a teacher or an adult volunteer, and students log their hours for VIA.
